Mom’s Must-Haves in a Home

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. I thought it might be fun to share the home trends and designs that are must-haves for Moms.

Check out these five features that Moms all agree on:

Storage, storage, storage: Families accumulate lots of stuff over time, from toys and games to clothing and sports equipment. Having ample storage space can help keep everything organized and easily accessible. It also keeps clutter at bay.

A dedicated play area: Kids need a space to play. They can be creative without worrying about making a mess or disrupting other activities. A dedicated play area provides a safe and fun space for kids to let their imaginations run wild—and not drive Mom crazy with the mess.

A functional kitchen: The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where families come together to cook, eat, and hang out. A functional kitchen needs plenty of counter space, storage, and high-quality appliances that can make meal prep and cleanup a breeze. It also creates a welcoming and inviting space for family gatherings.

A comfortable space for gathering: Whether you’re watching a movie, playing a game, or just chilling, families need a space to gather. Having a comfortable and inviting living room with plenty of seating, good lighting, and a cozy atmosphere makes all the difference.

Outdoor space: Having a backyard, patio, or deck where the family can spend time outdoors is a great way to get some fresh air, exercise, and relaxation. Families play catch, grill or just lounge in the sun. Having an outdoor space can provide a much-needed escape from the daily routine.

So, what’s the Takeaway?

Moms love a family-friendly home that is functional, comfortable, and welcoming. By incorporating these five must-haves, you can create a home that meets the needs of every member of your family. It also provides a comfortable and inviting space for years to come.

May I Recommend? A Great Spot for Tacos–and More!

It’s Cinco de Mayo! Let the taco-eating begin!

What is Cinco de Mayo all about?

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday that commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The battle occurred when a poorly equipped and outnumbered Mexican army successfully defended the city of Puebla against a larger and better-equipped French army. The victory was significant because it demonstrated that Mexico was capable of defending itself against a European power.

The Battle of Puebla became a symbol of Mexican resistance and national pride. Cinco de Mayo is primarily has become a popular holiday in the United States, where it is often associated with Mexican-American culture and heritage.

And tacos!

Tacos are one of America’s favorite foods. In fact, Americans consumed 4.5 billion tacos in 2018 alone. I guess I’m not alone in my taco appreciation!

Enjoy a Little Folsom Egg Hunt Easter Fun!

The Easter Bunny is a cherished tradition of spring. Who doesn’t love an easter basket brimming with colorful eggs and treats?

Have you ever wondered how the Easter Bunny became part of the celebration? The true origins of the Easter bunny are not clear, but the prolific creature is a symbol of spring renewal and new life. Easter egg hunts “hosted” by the Easter Bunny were brought to America by German immigrants in the 1700s. The Bunny and the eggs are now a special part of the celebration.

Festival of Eggs: Hop on over to Folsom’s Lembi Park, 1302 Riley Street, Folsom, April 8

The Folsom Egg Hunt event, formerly known as the Spring Eggstravaganza, has everything a crowd loves: a pancake breakfast (purchase onsite), free kiddie carnival games hosted by the Folsom Teen Council, entertainment, vendor displays, and lots of hands-on activities.

Kids ages 6 and under should arrive from 8 to 9:30 a.m., and ages 7 to 10 from 9:30 to 11 a.m.—remember to bring a basket with you. Pick up your Bunny Trail Map and begin your journey as you visit vendors along the trail to collect goodies and eggs.

Join the bunny at the end of the trail for a special photo op for a souvenir of your day. Complete all of the stops listed on the map to receive a ticket for a special egg hunt and a chance to win a Golden Egg Prize.

And the Winner Is …

Top Achievers Award

I was recently honored at a beautiful celebration by the El Dorado County Association of Realtors at the Top Achievers Luncheon which recognizes the top 5% of realtors in El Dorado County. I have received this award for 15 consecutive years! What an honor! Best of all? This delightful luncheon helped raise money for scholarships for graduating High School Seniors.

Thanks to the sponsors for their generosity and to the committee members for all their efforts. I’m so proud to be part of such a great group.

Awards are wonderful validations of hard work.

But awards are not the reason that we work hard. We love our clients! And the beauty is that behind every award are new clients, new friends, and cherished memories that we build together as we work toward a common goal.

The Real Reason We Value Awards

Our clients buy and sell homes for a variety of reasons and it is our privilege to assist in the major life changes of our clients. Some transactions are joyous, celebrating expanding families or enticing job offers. But others require a more gentle touch as clients navigate more difficult life circumstances. We are honored to assist all of our clients as they negotiate these life events.

So, we joyfully and gratefully accept this award. We look forward to serving more clients who become lifelong friends.

Ahh, Spring. Time to Clean!

‘Tis the Season!

Spring is here, and with it comes the task of spring cleaning. It’s the perfect time to give your Folsom home a fresh start and dispose of clutter that has accumulated over the wet, rainy winter months. But tif you are like me, the thought of deep cleaning your entire home can be overwhelming. Don’t worry, here are some easy spring-cleaning tips that will make the process less daunting. I promise!

Make a plan

The first step is to make a plan. Create a list of all the tasks that need to be done, and prioritize them. You can start with the areas that need the most attention, such as the kitchen and bathrooms. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Slow and steady wins the race!

Declutter

Spring cleaning and decluttering go hand in hand. Go through your belongings and get rid of anything you no longer need or use. It can be tricky, but try to be brutal! You can donate or sell items that are in good condition, and dispose of the rest. Decluttering will not only make your home look cleaner but will also appear more spacious.

Get the family involved

Spring cleaning is not just for one person to handle. Get the entire family involved in the process. Assign tasks to each family member and make it a fun activity. You can also offer incentives or rewards to motivate them. Create a family ‘spring cleaning playlist’ to keep the energy high!

Focus on the details

Don’t forget the details. Clean the baseboards, dust the ceiling fans, and wipe down the windowsills. These small tasks can make a big difference in the overall appearance of your home.

Don’t forget the outdoors

Curb appeal matters. (How about a little real estate humor?) Spring cleaning doesn’t just involve the indoors. Make the outdoors shine as well. Sweep the patio, clean the grill, and remove any debris from the yard.

Enjoy your clean home!

Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a daunting task. With these easy tips, you can give your home a fresh start and enjoy the warmer weather with a clean and organized home.

Mythbusters to the Rescue!

Buying a Folsom home is often seen as a significant milestone in one’s life, but the process of purchasing a property can be shrouded in myths that can mislead prospective buyers. These myths can lead to misunderstandings and may even prevent individuals from realizing their dream of owning a home.

Myth 1: You need a large down payment to buy a home

Many people believe that they need to save up for a large down payment to buy a home. While a down payment can help lower your monthly mortgage payments and reduce the amount of interest you will pay over time, it is not always necessary to have a large sum of money upfront. There are many low down payment options available, including FHA and VA loans, that can help make homeownership more accessible.

Myth 2: Your credit score has to be perfect to qualify for a mortgage

While a good credit score is important in securing a mortgage, having a perfect credit score is not always necessary. Many lenders offer options for individuals with less than perfect credit scores. Additionally, other factors, such as income, employment history, and debt-to-income ratio, are also considered in the mortgage approval process.

Myth 3: You should buy the most expensive home you can afford

Many people believe that they should stretch their budget and buy the most expensive home they can afford. However, this can lead to financial strain and may make it difficult to meet other financial goals, such as saving for retirement or paying off debt. It is essential to buy a home that fits within your budget and allows you to maintain financial stability.

Myth 4: The home inspection is optional

A home inspection is a crucial step in the home buying process. It helps identify any potential issues with the property and saves buyers from costly repairs down the line. Skipping the inspection may be a costly mistake that may end up costing the buyer thousands of dollars.

Myth 5: You can’t negotiate the price of a home

Many buyers believe that the asking price of a home is non-negotiable. However, this is not always the case. In many cases, sellers may be willing to negotiate on the price, especially if the home has been on the market for an extended period. Working with a real estate agent can help buyers negotiate the best price for the property.

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?

Buying a Folsom home can be a complicated process, but understanding the common myths can make it easier. By debunking these myths, prospective buyers will informed decisions and find the home of their dreams without unnecessary stress or confusion.

We are dedicated to making your dreams come true. We’ve got experience and neighborhood expertise. Let’s get started on your real estate goals today! Check out my tips for Sellers today!
