How I’d Spend a Day in El Dorado Hills

There are plenty of ways to describe El Dorado Hills: beautiful homes, rolling foothills, great neighborhoods, and easy access to Sacramento.

But sometimes the best way to get to know a community is simply to spend a day there.

So, if I had one completely free day in El Dorado Hills, here’s how I’d spend it.

8:00 AM: Coffee First

Every good day starts with coffee, and El Dorado Hills has plenty of places to make that happen.

I’d grab a cup at a local coffee shop, find a sunny spot outside if the weather cooperates, and ease into the morning. No rushing required.

Because that’s part of the appeal of living here. El Dorado Hills feels connected to everything you need, but the foothill setting can make life feel just a little removed from the hustle.

9:00 AM: Get Outside in El Dorado Hills

Next stop: fresh air.

I’d head toward Folsom Lake for a morning walk, hike or bike ride. If it’s warm, I might trade the walking shoes for a paddleboard or kayak and spend a little time on the water.

Folsom Lake is practically an extension of the El Dorado Hills lifestyle, with opportunities for boating, hiking, biking, picnicking and simply enjoying those beautiful foothill views.

And you don’t necessarily need to make an entire production out of it. That’s the beauty of having recreation this close to home.

11:30 AM: Head to Town Center

By now, I’m hungry.

I’d make my way to El Dorado Hills Town Center for lunch—preferably somewhere with a patio.

Town Center is one of those places that can become part of your regular routine rather than somewhere reserved for special occasions. Meet a friend for lunch. Grab coffee. Pick up groceries. Browse a few shops. Catch a movie. Come back later for dinner.

On market days, I’d definitely make time to wander through the local vendors, too.

1:30 PM: Take the Scenic Route

This is where I’d leave a little room in the schedule.

Maybe I’d drive through some of the beautiful neighborhoods tucked into the hills. Maybe I’d head farther into El Dorado County, where wineries, farms and historic communities make an easy afternoon adventure.

That’s another thing I love about this location: you can point the car east and quickly feel like you’ve gone somewhere.

And, yes, as real estate agents, we’re probably going to notice the houses along the way. We can’t help ourselves.

4:00 PM: Slow Down

After a full afternoon, I’d head back toward El Dorado Hills.

Maybe it’s another walk. Maybe it’s sitting outside with something cold to drink. Maybe it’s doing absolutely nothing for an hour and enjoying the view.

Not every part of a great day needs an itinerary.

6:00 PM: Dinner—and Stay Awhile in El Dorado Hills

I’d finish where I spent part of the afternoon: Town Center.

Dinner overlooking the water, followed by a walk around the center, sounds pretty good to me. Depending on the season, you might even find live music or another community event happening nearby.

And that’s when you start to understand the appeal of El Dorado Hills.

It’s not just one spectacular attraction.

It’s the combination.

Morning coffee. Trails and lake days. Neighborhoods with foothill views. A lively Town Center. Restaurants and community events. Wine country just up the road. Sacramento in the other direction.

It’s a place where a very ordinary Saturday can feel like a pretty great day.
